The first quarter of 2017 fiscal year (two quarters of 2017),the raw steel output of Steel Authority of India Ltd, (SAIL) is 3.11 million kilograms, steel output decreased from 3.63million ton in four quarters of 2016 fiscal year to 3.2 million tons. Incidentally, the steel output with high added value decrease from 1.57 million tons in four quarters of 2016 fiscal year to 1.38 million tons; and the steel shipment is 3.03 million tons. It was down by 12.1 % from the previous month but up by 8.1 % year on year.
The first quarter of 2017 financial year, SAIL Capital expenditure is 100.8 billion rupee .2017 financial year, SAIL capital expenditure target is 350.0 billion rupee, which is lower too much than 2017 total capital expenditure value (493.8 billion rupee).
As the only one steel rail producing company in India, SAIL got benefits from the increase of Indian steel rail demands in recent years, especiallythe demands of steel rail from State-owned Indian Railway Corporation. In the first quarter of 2017 fiscal year, the sales volume of steel rail increased observably 0.25-0.3 million tons year on year. In 2016 fiscal year, the steel rail sales volume of this company is 0.8 million tons. Besides selling to Indian railway companies, SAIL also sells steel rail to other Indian privately-owned companies for special railway transportation lines, but the steel rail sales volume to Indian Railway Company occupied about 90% of the total sales volume.
